Group Project: Group Five Movie
most of our discussions were done through e-mail, but here is a recap.
we brainstormed what type of movie we were going to do.
We were thinking of doing an informative movie about concepts talked about in the book/in-class, but we decided on creating a mock health video that did some things more realistically than health videos, but still follow that same basic cheeseiness.
We got together and wrote the script. This took about 2-3 hours.
Then we got together to film the movie. We did this on a saturday from 12-5pm.
Joe filmed and John, Laura, and I acted. Joe had a cameo.
We have already talked a little bit about how our paper is going to be constructed.
We are now in the film editing process.
for the paper:
do you guys want to write why most health videos are ineffective in communication, how ours was better, how our was still ineffective because we followed/mocked health videos, and then how we worked together?
So here is what I've heard from everyone so far:
Joe is writing about how the frat boy is depicted in our film
I am writing about how most health videos are ineffective because they fail to relate to their audience
John said he'd write about how our health video was effective/better than most health videos and ineffective/followed generic health video guidelines
Laura, did you want to write about how we worked as a group and maybe talk about our technical difficulties there? or did you have something else in mind?
I have one question about how the movie is going to work out. From what i understand from Joe apparently half of the audio was either wiped out or never actually recorded correctly. Are we going to have it silent for half the movie (no voices just music?) I wasn't sure what the resolution to this problem was but i am curious to hear whether we are going to have to do more recording.

My computer HATES the wiki and rarely lets me log into it, but today it is being agreeable.
In response to the paper topics: Sure, I'll write about how we worked together as a group, the dynamics, the brainstorming, the problem-solving, all that jazz. I'll also talk about what happened with the audio from the tape, and that will be included in the problem-solving/resolution section.
Whitney, thanks for taking the time to post all of our discussion up here. Most of it has been through email, so if we agree to it- I can include that in the paper as well, as justification for not having posted as much text on the Wiki.
So, for tomorrow's class: Let's figure out some deadlines. When should we have our parts completed by and when should everyone have them sent in to me so I can edit them and make sure everything flows and agrees?
See you all tomorrow! -- Laura --

So, we decided what pieces of the paper each of us is going to write about, AND we think that having sound throughout the whole video is a possibility now, thanks to Joe! Yay!
If everyone can email me and post their parts of the paper up here by Wednesday, that would be great. That way I'll have time to compile all the topics, make sure everything agrees and we'll have a great paper by the end of the week.
See everyone tomorrow! -- Laura --
Ok that sounds good to me. Im gonna try to get my part together by Wednesday. Are we aiming for a length of about 1-1/2 pages for each part I take it?
By the way nicely done Joe, your the best (and only) tech guy I've had the pleasure of working with.

The movie is finished editing. I sadly am out of burnable DVDs because I used 4 trying to burn this one properly. The sound is in and everything turned out well. Wind was a bit of an issue, but nothing major. I also mailed my section of the paper to Laura earlier. -- Joe
Hey guys, I just sent my paper in. Laura, would you mind sending us the paper when it is finished. thanks, Whitney
My part is done and I just sent it out to you Laura. I look forward to seeing the final copy.--John
